HOW TO STYLE ...

(01)

Be comfortable! Wear what you normally wear, and kick it up a notch. A little bit of extra make up, clean shirt. Think about your location. You’ll want to wear outfits that match or stand out against the background. Do you have a color palette color throughout your home? This may change depending on the room, so it’s important to plan out where you want to display your wall art. Start with 1 person and work your way through the family…

LIMIT PATTERNS
There’s nothing wrong with a little pattern. If you love patterns, choose 1 family member to wear the pattern, and then pull different colors from it to dress everyone else in. Again, we want these outfits to compliment you, but not be the first thing someone notices when they look at your photos.

COORDINATE, DON'T MATCH
Choose 2-3 colors that go well together and incorporate that into everyone’s outfits. Use different textures and layers to bring some style into the photos.

GET THE KIDDOS INVOLVED!
The easiest way to get your kids excited for photos is to have them involved from the very beginning. Choose multiple clothing options that will work for each child and get them to pick their own outfit. Ask them if they want to bring any accessories with them. You don’t need to choose those photos, but it will get them excited for the session!

YES to form fitting clothes, solid colors, layers, textures, accessories.
NO to baggy clothes, characters, big logos.

NEWBORN SESSIONS

A FEW TIPS AND TRICKS FOR A GREAT NEWBORN SESSION ...

(01)

KEEP BABY AWAKE
Try to keep baby awake before the session so that they are nice and sleepy. Do not feed them until right before we begin the session. Feed baby when I arrive, while I set up. This will keep baby nice and full during the session.

LOOSEN UP
Please loosen your baby’s diaper and clothing at least thirty minutes before the session. This gives those little imprint marks time to disappear.

LET THE LIGHT IN
When I arrive, I will open all blinds and curtains in your home so that I can find the location with the best light for the session.

TURN UP THE HEAT
If you would like any bare baby photos, I recommend that you turn up your heat so baby is nice and warm and will be more comfortable. A space heater will do the job as well.

PATIENCE IS KEY
Newborn sessions can last anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes, depending on baby. If sleep doesn’t happen, that’s okay! Wide-eyed newborn photos are just as gorgeous and so precious!

POOP HAPPENS
This is natural and I expect it! In fact, I will applaud your baby! As a mother of two great poopers, we celebrate bodily functions in our house.

PROPS
If you have any family heirlooms, toys, hats, props, etc. that you would like me to use in your session, please gather them before I arrive.

BUT WHAT DO I WEAR?
I want you to feel your most comfortable self so that baby will feel at ease too. As for clothing, keep it simple. Solids look best on film, throw in a little color if you’d like, but skip the busy patterns, logos and solid white or solid black.

MAKE THE BED
One of the most timeless photos is a new family cuddled in bed together! If that’s something that appeals to you, I'll make your bed and clear the nightstands.
